I’ve been led to believe that there is a strong temptation amongst certain individuals to borrow a neighbour’s wireless internet connection without first seeking permission from the appropriate neighbour. A harmless enough activity you may think, however Reuters reports today that two people have recently been arrested and cautioned for doing exactly that.
Although many would consider an unprotected network to be fair game, the act of piggy-backing a wireless internet connection is an offence officially termed “dishonestly obtaining electronic communications services with intent to avoid payment”.
So if you must use someone else’s wireless connection, either ask them first or prepare for a night in the slammer…
